At Lake City Twisters, our goal is to create a welcoming home for our athletes, not only by providing guidance and instruction, but also imparting accountability, determination, and work ethic. In molding an all-round athlete, we accentuate a holistic approach to coaching, while working with each athlete individually to determine goals and plans whilst maintaining high standards of character and effort.
Ages 5-8
Compulsory gymnastics is a competitive program in the USAG Junior Olympic (JO) program that consists of levels 1–5. In this program, gymnasts perform the same routines, skills, and order, along with the same music and dance choices, as their peers at the same level. The routines are created by the governing body of gymnastics, such as the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) or national gymnastics federations, to help gymnasts develop a foundation of fundamental skills, form, and technique before moving on to more advanced levels.
Xcel is developed as a competitive program offering individual flexibility to gymnast while still pushing each gymnast towards increasing difficulty. Xcel is target to proving gymnast of varying abilities the opportunity for a rewarding gymnastics experience while continuing to challenge them. Offering a wider choice of skills to meet specific requirements so selection of skill can be based on an individual athletes strength, sportsmanship, leadership and teamwork.
Levels in Xcel:
Sliver (comparable to Level 3-4)
Gold (comparable to level 4-5)
Platinum (comparable to level 5-6)
Diamond (comparable to level 7-8)
Sapphire (comparable to 9-10)
Level 6 is a transitional level from compulsories. Gymnast may have their own routine; however, they must include certain basic elements and follow a strict of guidelines.
Level 7-10 Gymnasts are required to use their own gymnast's strength and away from their weakness
